This accolade is due to Thomas Crapper, the man who popularised the modern flushing toilet, being a son of Thorne, Doncaster.
Doncaster has a beautiful Minster at the heart of the town which dates back to AD71. Doncaster sits on the famous A1 motorway giving access to Manchester, Leeds, York, Sheffield and London. The River Don runs for over 70 miles through the Don valley, through the Doncaster and merges with the River Ouse at Goole.
